How to add Google reviews to a Wix website

A step-by-step guide to showing your Google reviews on a Wix site with one embed, plus the mobile and iframe details worth checking.

If you want to add Google reviews to a Wix website, the simplest route is Wix's own Embed HTML element. You build the review widget once, paste one snippet into Wix, and new reviews keep appearing without anyone copying and pasting them.

This guide is for Wix site owners and the agencies and freelancers who build Wix sites for clients. It covers the setup step by step, where to place reviews, how to check the mobile version, and one Wix detail that affects how the reviews are loaded.

Four steps to add Google reviews to a Wix site: connect Google, build the widget, add an Embed HTML element, then paste and publish

What you need before you start

Have these ready:

  • Your Google Business Profile. This is the listing your Google reviews belong to. If you have more than one location, know which listing goes with which page.
  • Access to edit your Wix site. You will add an element in the Wix Editor and publish the change.
  • A page and a spot for the reviews. Pick one page to start, such as your homepage or your most important service page.

You do not need a Wix app or any coding experience. You will paste a short snippet, but you will not have to write or edit it.

Step 1: Connect your Google reviews and build the widget

Create a free BrandTrust.reviews account and connect your Google review source. Once it is connected, your existing reviews are imported and kept in sync automatically.

Check the imported reviews before going further. Make sure they belong to the right business and location, especially if you manage several listings with similar names.

Then choose how the widget looks. The available layouts are:

  • Grid: several review cards side by side. Good for a dedicated reviews section.
  • List: one review per row, which gives longer comments more room.
  • Masonry: cards of different heights in a staggered layout.
  • Carousel: reviews in a horizontal row with arrows, handy when vertical space is tight.
  • Badge: a compact rating that opens a popup of reviews when clicked. It fits well in a hero section or sidebar.

You can filter and order reviews and choose which ones to feature. The headline rating and total count still reflect all of your reviews, not just the ones you feature, so the summary stays honest.

When the widget looks right, copy its embed snippet. It is one short block of code that starts with a div and a script tag.

Step 2: Add an Embed HTML element in the Wix Editor

Open your site in the Wix Editor and go to the page where the reviews should appear. Then:

  1. Click Add Elements on the left side of the editor.
  2. Click Embed Code, then Popular Embeds.
  3. Click Embed HTML. A new element appears on the page.
  4. Click the element, then click Enter Code.
  5. Paste your BrandTrust.reviews snippet into the code field and click Apply.

These menu names come from Wix's guide to embedding a site or widget. Wix updates its editor from time to time, so if a label looks different, that article is the place to check.

Wix also has a site-wide Custom Code setting in the dashboard, but that is meant for scripts that load in the page head or body, such as verification tags. For a review section you want to place in a specific spot, the Embed HTML element is the right tool.

Step 3: Size the element and publish

Drag the element's handles so it fills the width of the section and has enough height for your layout. A grid of several reviews needs more room than a single row or a badge.

Then click Publish and open the live page in a new browser tab. Check the published version rather than the editor preview, since the preview does not always match what visitors see.

Step 4: Check the mobile version

Wix builds a separate mobile layout from your desktop page, and embedded elements do not always adapt on their own. Wix's own help center notes that some embeds may not fit or align correctly on mobile devices.

Open the mobile editor and look at the review element:

  • Make sure it is not cut off at the bottom or sides.
  • Make sure review text is readable without zooming.
  • If you used a badge, tap it and confirm the popup opens and closes easily.

If the desktop version does not work well on phones, Wix suggests hiding that element on mobile and adding a separate mobile-only embed from the mobile editor's Add panel. Elements added in the mobile editor appear only on mobile, so you can use a simpler layout there, such as a list or a badge. See Wix's guide to embeds on mobile for the steps.

Understand how Wix loads embedded code

Wix states that its HTML embed elements are iframes. An iframe is a small, separate page loaded inside your page.

For visitors, this mostly does not matter. They see your reviews in place, styled the way you set them up.

It does affect two things worth knowing:

  • Height is fixed by the element. The iframe is the size you drag it to in the editor. If you later add more featured reviews or switch to a taller layout, resize the element so nothing gets cut off.
  • Search engines may treat the reviews separately. Because the reviews load in their own embedded document, don't count on search engines or AI tools reading that review text or its schema as part of your Wix page's own content. The reviews are there to help people decide, and that is where most of their value is.

If you want reviews built into the page itself, platforms with a native integration handle this differently. For example, our native WordPress plugin renders reviews on your own server. On Wix, the embed is the practical option.

Where to put Google reviews on a Wix site

A single reviews page is fine, but reviews do more work on the pages where people make decisions.

  • Homepage: a short grid of general reviews about reliability and service introduces the business.
  • Service pages: reviews that mention that service answer the question a visitor has on that page. A review about water heater installation belongs on the water heater page.
  • Location pages: if you have several locations, show reviews for the right location so visitors know which team the review describes.
  • Hero section or sidebar: a badge keeps your rating visible without taking much space, and the full reviews are one click away.

On paid plans, Smart Tags can do the sorting for you. You give a tag a few keywords, and reviews that mention them are tagged automatically as they sync, so a widget on your drain cleaning page can show drain cleaning reviews without manual curation. Adding Facebook and other review sources

Google is often the biggest source of reviews, but your business may have useful feedback elsewhere. BrandTrust.reviews also connects to Facebook, Etsy, eBay, WooCommerce and Judge.me for Shopify stores, with TripAdvisor in limited access.

On paid plans, you can combine several sources in one widget, with each review labeled by where it came from. If you do, give the section an accurate heading such as "Customer reviews" rather than "Google reviews." See current plans for which features each plan includes.

Common problems and fixes

The reviews are cut off. Make the Embed HTML element taller, or switch to a layout that needs less height.

The section looks fine on desktop but broken on mobile. Hide the desktop element in the mobile editor and add a mobile-only embed with a simpler layout.

Nothing shows up. Confirm you pasted the complete snippet, including both the div and the script lines, then publish again and check the live page. Wix only displays embedded code that loads over HTTPS, which the BrandTrust.reviews snippet does.

New reviews are not appearing yet. Connected sources sync automatically, but new reviews are not instant. Give it some time, then check again. If a review still does not show, check your widget's filters, since a minimum rating or tag filter may be hiding it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Wix app to show Google reviews?

No. Wix's built-in Embed HTML element is enough. You paste one snippet from BrandTrust.reviews into it, and the reviews stay synced from there.

Is there a free way to add Google reviews to Wix?

Yes. BrandTrust.reviews has a free plan with no credit card and no trial timer, and the Wix embed works on it. Paid plans add more widgets, higher view allowances and features such as combined sources and Smart Tags. See current plans for details.

Does this work on Wix Studio?

Yes. The same snippet works in Wix Studio's HTML embed element. The menu path in the Studio editor differs slightly from the classic Wix Editor, so use Studio's Add panel to find the embed option.

Will Google review stars show up next to my Wix site in search results?

Don't expect them. Google does not show review stars for a business's own reviews on its own website, including reviews displayed through a widget. Our article on review schema explains what the markup does and does not do.

How often do new Google reviews appear?

Connected sources sync automatically on a schedule, so new reviews appear without any work on your part. They are not instant, so allow some time after a new review is posted.

Try it with your own reviews

Start with one page, check it on desktop and mobile, and expand from there. You can try the BrandTrust.reviews free plan with no credit card and no trial timer, and see the Wix setup page for a quick overview.
